Over the past two years, the FundSeeder team has worked hard to create a financial technology company that provides traders from all over the globe with an opportunity to grow. This simple mission statement I believe is the answer to disrupting the hedge fund management industry: “The next great money managers are out there waiting to be discovered, and FundSeeder provides the platform and the opportunity for that to happen.”

In an age of wide-spread industry disruption, one has to wonder why the Hedge Fund management industry has been stuck in the past.  An industry where the 500 largest hedge funds control approximately 90% of the trillion dollars in assets within the space. Do these hedge funds have a monopoly on the world’s best trade ideas? Do these firms have access to information not readily available to the masses? Are the traders who work at these firms simply the best? Of course not. Just reading these questions might make you wonder why this industry has yet to be disrupted.

At the core of this problem is the general lack of opportunity for emerging managers. Or another way of putting it: the barriers to entry that keep traders from developing, growing, and maturing into successful hedge fund managers as of today is significant. Whether it is the start-up costs associated with launching their own management firms and funds, geographical barriers, the infrastructure requirements imposed by most institutional investors, or simply the lack of distribution and marketing connections once a fund is launched the hurdles can seem insurmountable. Each of the aforementioned barriers I believe have kept talented traders from growing and having a chance for success; FundSeeder seeks to change the paradigm within the financial industry.
